Yesterday I lost the first member of my family. My grandpa passed away sometime early Friday morning. I got the phone call on my way to see an Opera in Chicago. Dad came and picked me up. No one really know whats to say or do. I don't even kno what to say or feel. I didn't even get to say good-bye, it was so sudden. Right now, I'm on this huge roller coaster. Sometimes I'm thinking about all the funny things he said and then I'll see a picture of the two of us and he's looking at me with this huge smile. He loved us so much! I miss him so much. ...and then I just break down. I thought at some point I would run out of tears. Tuesday is the showing and I'm really afraid. I don't know if I can see him. I don't think it's sunk in yet that he's not coming back. Once I see him I'll know and it's gonna hurt real bad. I've never been to a funeral and I don't want to see so many people crying. I don't know if I'm supposed to tell people so at least they know, or if I'm supposed to not tell so they don't think I want a sympathy vote. There's no manual for this kind of thing.
Just thought you guys should know. I'm not at school now so I'm going back and forth from Indy to South Bend. I miss you so much!

So my first few nights in the dorm were actually quite eventful. The first night I woke up many times in the the middle of the night to add more blankets because it was like the Arctic had visited out room... it was bad! So we told Kristin about it while she was over and she said "Well why don't you turn on the heat!?" ....D'oh. I guess the first day of classes was too overwhelming for us to realize the simplicities of life...like turning on the heat when you are cold.
SO Kristin turned on the heat and all day we were fine. Well we went to bed without the need of 3 dozen extra blankets-happy and content....BUT NOT FOR LONG!!! Next thing I know I am waking up at 4 in the morning, sweating like crazy and just swimming in the thickest stagnant air I have ever attempted to breath. So in a crazed frenzy I tried to find a fan....oh the fans I missed from last semester. But My little one was underneath my loft completely out of reach. So I tried to scramble down out of my loft- as well as a complete sleep-drunk stupor can manage- and I went to the heater to turn it COMPLETELY OFF! By this time I was going crazy. Red curls were flying everywhere I was panting...still attempting to breathe this air that felt thicker than Wisconsin cheese. I climbed back up into my loft...which guess what, was still just as hot an stagnant so I climbed back down and tried to look for my fan but it was attached to my bed and the cord wasn't long enough so I went to sleep on the couch. Well After attempting to sleep for like 20 seconds I realized that I needed the fan so I tried to think of a way to attach it to the couch...(keep in mind this was like 4:12 in the morning and I wasn't thinking correctly) ...well believe it or not the fan could not "attach" to the couch. So I decided to hook the fan to a chair and drag it as close as I could to the couch ...well that wasn't close enough so I got a blanket from my bed and threw in on the floor as close to the chair and the fan as I could. Well even tho I was now closer to the fan I was still sweating like crazy and the hair was still ...just.. so.. hot. So in a final act of desperation I crawled painfully to the very edge of the hardwood as close as I could to the crack in the bottom of the door where I could feel cool air coming. Here is where I was found at the time of my alarm the next morning at 9 am.
Let's just say the second night was not well spent. So now we turn the heat on low all day and then turn in completely off during the night. So far, none of us have woken up in crazed stupors. ...for now!
More Average Adventures to come!

Today was the first day of classes. ..... ...... ...... That's all I have to say about that.
My room is awesome!! Having only three people opens up soo much space. I think we are going to add another futon and we have both of Kim's ND chairs up....Yeah we're talking THAT big! Most of our furniture is in a permanent balancing act. For example, the extra desk is balancing on the extra reems of paper we had and a set of books that someone (...Kim) did not want to take back with them.....so we put them to good use. The purpose of setting the desk on the books was so that it could be raised several inches to incorporate a fridge where the chair would normally go. This desk now sits by the TV and is our pantry.
In order for Mad and I to get onto our beds we stuck the extra chair between our two lofts. This was in front of her storage unit thought. So we raised the storage unit up on this make shift shelving unit...so that is also balancing there for now.
Everyone loves the TV, so thank you for that Kim. The water is also very exciting...and it hasn't even been delivered yet! The Run, Forest, Run license plate has already been commented on like 4 times. The vaccuum has been used already like 5 times. So that was a super hit.
Who left the green shower caddy?! Did you know it has a secret soap compartment!! Who knew. I have not disposed of it because of this secret compartment. It is currently residing in a safe space in the extra closet.
Oh and Cece Thank you so much for the Bracelet. It looks amazing. I have already lost it twice before I even got it on, so the fact that it was found twice and made it onto my wrist is a feat in itself. If this bracelet is meant to last....so are WE!!! lol
More Average Adventures to come!
P.S. I would like to point out just how average my adventures are.... Natlie talked of the freaking Roman Coliseum and Umbrella vendors, and ordering food in another language...in about 2-3 paragraphs. I spent the same amount of space talking about a secret soap compartment in a leftover shower caddy. "Average" this semester is just going to be greeeat.v
